HISTORY

Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina (WGCC) was established under the leading of the Holy Spirit and through faith in and obedience to God’s word.  Pastor Henry Givens, the founding pastor of Word of God Christian Center (WGCC), first sensed the call to ministry while in high school.  That call to ministry remained with Pastor Givens and continued to deepen and intensify over the years.  In the early 1990s, Pastor Givens openly began to accept and acknowledge his calling, and he began to explore avenues to prepare to fulfill the call.  

The foundation of WGCC dates back to the late 1990s and early 2000s, when a small group of individuals began to host prayer and worship in their home.  While still enrolled in the School of Ministry at More Than Conquerors College in Charlotte, NC, Pastor Givens sensed the Holy Spirit leading him to relocate back to the lowcountry region of South Carolina, to establish a ministry and call it, “Word of God Christian Center”.  Pastor followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and relocated from Charlotte, NC to South Carolina to establish WGCC.  In April 2011, Pastor Givens became pastor of the church. 

Word of God Christian Center (WGCC), is an independent, non-denominational, word-of-faith church.  Pastor Henry Givens was ordained by Pastor Robyn Gool, of Victory Christian Center (VCC), in Charlotte, NC.  Pastor Givens receives Pastor Robyn Gool as his senior pastor and looks to Victory Christian Center (VCC) as his “mother church”. 


AFFILIATION

Pastor Givens was ordained into ministry under his senior pastor, Pastor Robyn Gool, of Victory Christian Center in Charlotte, NC.  Pastor Givens receives Pastor Gool as his senior pastor for spiritual covering and guidance.  However, Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina is an independent, “word of faith” church.  Pastor Givens and Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina are truly blessed to have Pastor Robyn Gool as spiritual leader, from whom Pastor Givens humbly receives guidance and counsel.  Word of God Christian Center of South Carolina shall maintain an ongoing tithing relationship with Victory Christian Center of Charlotte, NC.
